Poland's solar PV market has been on the upswing in recent years, with 8.7 GW of new PV capacity installed in the last two years. As a result, Poland was one of the five strongest markets in Europe in terms of newly installed PV capacity in 2024.
Nevertheless, challenges remain according to EUPD Research, such as grid congestion or a slow prosumer market due to regulatory changes and economic uncertainty.
In addition, market dynamics have shifted compared to the previous year. Although fewer private households are now installing PV, with a decline of 30%, more industrial and utility companies are doing so, with an increase of 7%. EUPD Research estimates that growth in the residential sector will remain sluggish. However, the large-scale PV and storage segment is set to expand, driven by a new aid package from the Polish government and the EU Commission totalling 1.2 billion euros for new storage systems.
