Let's turn toward two Southeastern European countries that are looking at a significant surge in solar PV development over the course of the next five years. Greece and Romania both updated their NECP (National Energy and Climate Plans) last year in order to align to EU directives. In light of that, EUPD Research's GET Matrix predicts that both countries are set to surpass their new NECP 2030 targets by 2026. This projected growth is influenced by a variety of incentives and factors. For one, Romania's small-scale PV sector is profiting off the recently initiated Casa Verde Fotovoltaice (Green PV Home) scheme, which led to 39,000 approvals in the first and 150,000 in the second round. Greece is accelerating its PV growth as well, with large-scale projects tendered, resulting in approximately 1.4 GW of PV slated for development until 2025.
